Mission at start of talk

To begin growing a diverse, well-connected network at the intersection of journalism and technology focused on revitalizing participatory democracy ... through seeding innovative ideas ... deepening relationships . . . and inspiring action.

AGENDA

Here's what we propose to get accomplished on Monday:

  • Introduce principal collaborators (some present, some participating by teleconference)
  • Affirm the purpose: To begin growing a diverse, well connected network at the intersection of journalism and technology focused on revitalizing participatory democracy . . . through seeding innovative ideas . . . deepening relationships . . . and inspiring action.
  • Discuss how we ensure diversity in participation, perspective and expertise
  • Consider budget; balance between registration fees and sponsorships

  • Find appropriate roles for advertising . . . and government

  • Articulate the promise, and risks, of journalism without ads, paper or broadcast
  • Understand and strengthen the citizen/media connection
