Aldon Hynes is assisting with the startup of the New England News Forum and Newstrust-New England. Born in Maine, Hynes was raised in Massachusetts and studied philosophy at the College of Wooster, Ohio. He worked years as a technology executive on Wall Street. In 2003, he became active in former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean's presidential bid and received credentials from the Democratic Party to cover the Democratic National Convention as a blogger. He started programming computers in the late '60s. In the early '80s as a consultant to Bell Labs he first got on the Internet. Since 2003, he and his wife have explored ways to use the Internet for journalism, political and public-policy communication. In June, 2006, he managed the multimedia technology track at the Media Giraffe summit at the University of Massachusetts.

During his time on Wall Street,Hynes became interest in the group dynamics of organizations. On Wall Street, he was technology director for the $2 billion hedge fund, S.A.C. Capital Advisors, from 1997-2000. From 1992-1997, he was vice president of the Union Bank of Switzerland with responsibility for developing technology for desktop trading systems, servers and internet applications for the bank’s North American business unit. Prior to his move to Wall Street, Aldon consulted as a systems developer for a number of Fortune 500 companies including AT&T, Bell Labs, IBM and Exxon. He lives in Stamford, Conn., and is married with three children.
