JTM:MN - Griff Wigley - Passion of Place

in

Griff Wigley, co-host of Northfield, MN blog and podcast Locally Grown, discusses two models for online conversation. One is the forum model, where anyone can start a conversation. The other is a more directed blog, where the topics are decided upon by the bloggers. Wigley touches on his approach to learning and audience participation. He encourages people to start a discussion with questions, later leading to more involvement with a local issue.

This video is a clip from the Journalism That Matters: The Passion of Place conversation that took place at Minnesota Public Radio. Twelve citizen-journalists -- "placebloggers" -- gathered on Friday, June 6, 2008, to discuss what motivates people to launch a local online news community and what are their challenges, their successes, the opportunities, vision and passion which accompany this work?
