Holovaty is an Internet developer living in Chicago who received a Knight Brothers News Challenge award and in February, 2008, unveiled Everyblock.com, a "data mashup" of city-block specific public information. Holovaty formerly worked as editor of editorial innovations at Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive (washingtonpost.com). The job involves coming up with ideas for site improvements and special projects, and implementing them.

Crain's Chicago Business named him one of their 40 business leaders under 40 (he's age 24 in 2005). A first-generation American, he speaks Lithuanian when he visits his parents in the Chicago suburb of Naperville.

His biggest contribution to date has been a congressional voting database: http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/

Previously he was lead developer at World Online, the website which is affiliated with the Lawrence Journal-World in Lawrence, Kansas. The three primary sites there are LJWorld.com, KUSports.com and Lawrence.com.
